I am both proud and sad to inform you that there will not be
a L.O.V.E. Art Exhibition in 2024,
which would have been our eleventh exhibition.
The proud reasons are that many of our supportive venues across the Cultural Quarter
either regularly have art exhibitions of their own or display art by local artists all year round,
which is a wonderful legacy of L.O.V.E. Art, compared to when we started back in 2014.
The sad reasons are that L.O.V.E. Art has always been delivered by volunteers
without remuneration and sadly both the time needed and the costs involved
to deliver a city/countywide annual exhibition, have exceeded the resources available.
I shall maintain the L.O.V.E. Art web site and social media for the next year,
just in case things change and/or I change my mind, and/or if someone else
(one of the excellent L.O.V.E. Art volunteers for example) wanted to take it on
and make it work for the next decade… if so please do get in touch,
but after that it will be no more.
To get your art exhibition fix, please do get your applications in to
LCB Depot’s
‘Spirit to Matter – Alchemy in the Making’
open exhibition (closing date to apply is the 4th October)
And/Or
Leicester Museums & Galleries
people’s exhibition (closing date to apply is the 30th September)
Finally my fellow volunteer curators and I just wanted to say thank you
to everyone that has entered, visited, volunteered and supported L.O.V.E. Art
over the past decade, it was a lot of fun to do and an excellent example
of the breadth of artistic talent that exists in this city.
So very appreciative,
Phil Hackett
