Kendrick Snodin's Curatorial Choice
I have been delighted to be part of the team for this year's L.O.V.E Art Exhibition. The standard of work has been very high and selecting my choices has been extremely difficult, a list of four soon became a list of ten, but here, after much deliberation, and in no particular order, are my selections...
After the War by Patsy Cain
A piece which has a mesmeric and hypnotic quality, an otherworldly landscape, to inhabit and explore visually, it engages the viewer with its architectural structures that play with light and reflection, the sheer scale of the piece, and its monumentality is also a grand statement of both artistic ambition and purposeful creativity.
No Name by Katy Smith
This piece displays all the expressions of a painterly style whilst retaining great mood and emotion within its realism. The delicacy of feeling for the subject and also its expression is handled with great aplomb, the feeling of space and the open areas of the canvas are great additions to the work and its engagement for the viewer.

The use of mixed media and the different types of technique is quite wonderful, the use of line and broader brushwork, work so well in combination together, there is a sense that the artist has caught some of the soul of the sitter, brushstrokes highlighting a feeling of the subject's personality and mood. Overall it is the use of colour which engages and draws the viewer in, compositionally, space and chroma are deployed with great vigour and purpose.
Medium Red by Rhea Pattenden
The artist's ability with all kinds of mediums and techniques is extremely impressive, the opportunity to develop this vision across many different disciplines makes its realisation all the more impressive. The organic nature of the work, the combination of colour, texture and purpose all engage with a strong artistic conviction, a piece with a strong vision, developed with great purpose.
